We have Algonquin Park to the west of us, the largest Provincial Park in Canada. There is Ottawa, Canada's Capital to the east of us. This is a dynamic city with so much to do including a casino, live theatre, and a sports arena that is home to the Ottawa Senators hockey team. We are next to the Centennial Lake Nature Reserve.
There is a myriad of opportunities to enjoy depending on your wishes. Right on site we offer water sports, a beautiful sand beach, playground, volleyball/badminton court and horseshoe pits. There are canoes, kayaks and a paddleboat to explore the lake, which are complimentary with cottage rentals. Paddle out to see one of the many pairs of loons. Come into the Drift Fence Gallery, which showcases wonderful framed prints of the wildlife and landscape in the Madawaska Highlands. We also feature works from other artisans in the area.
Our hiking trails are unsurpassed in beauty and diversity, covering totally unspoiled country. In the winter, these trails are groomed for x-country skiing and snowshoeing. Why not go for a leisurely walk along the network of trails and discover the beauty of The White Pines for yourself.
There are golf courses within a short drive including the championship Calabogie Highlands golf course, churches, shopping, dining, and so much more. For an exciting excursion, there is canoeing down the Madawaska River, a day trip that we highly recommend. The Ottawa River, known as Canada’s Whitewater Rafting Capital, is only an hour away, with numerous outfitters to get you out on the raging river.
While we are nestled in a mature pine forest, there are many deciduous trees for a stunning show in the fall. The lake and surrounding wilderness comprise our greatest asset. There are thousands of acres to explore on foot, skis, bike, ATV, snowmobile, snowshoes or boat.
For the trail riders, we now have an area behind our 3 bedroom log cottage that is perfect for keeping horses. There is a stable, and approximately ½ acre of land that is sectioned off with wire and mule string. Bring your portable electric fence unit to connect to the system. Our trails butt up to crown land, and you can travel the most beautiful and rugged country. Come back from a long trail ride, and bring your horses to the beach to cool off. After tucking them away for the night, put your steaks on the grill, grab a drink, and end a perfect day watching the setting sun and listening to the call of the loons.
